2010 Elections-Sheila Chalmers-Currin, Who Is She?

Its that time again, "Election Time," Now as a active voter its my duty to learn about who is running for office. Now first up is the 5th District Dem. Commissioner Race:

As I begin my google search through articles, blogs and meeting minutes I have learned that I cannot find any information about Mrs. Chamlers-Currin. I do know that she is a Trustee for Matteson and Former President for Illinois Fire and Police Commissioners Assn. As I have conducted my research I also see that she is beginning her campaign on untruths. On her site it states that she is " Endorsed by Chicago Tribune," When you view the Tribune site for their endorsements her name is not highlighted. Their site states "The Tribune editorial board has not yet endorsed a Democratic party candidate for Cook County Board 5th District."

Now really, is this a real change from how we feel "Typical" politicians are? Lier's with half-truths. Also a while ago I looked through her endorsements and saw Robin Kelly & Loretta Durbin listed...what happened? Now your endorsements are what voters like myself look for to say you are who you are and that you have the skills for the job. When you lie and suddenly remove names that calls your character into question.
Now my search for info on Deborah Sims has a lot more meat, yes we all know she reversed her vote for the tax increase, but I have personally volunteered for events she has held for the 5th district community which could be a reason for her change, she wants to ensure she would still be able to provide support while coping with price increases everywhere. I know she is there in the trenches everyday and before the government work she was there in the trenches working in the Dept. of Human Services as a Youth Intervention Worker, Youth Service Coordinator and she served as a Rape Victims Advocate. She has been there for us before the political career.
So let's look at what I have found so far......
Chalmers-Currin:
  1. Lied about endorsements (Big one for me)
  2. Serve as Trustee for Matteson
  3. Has a supporter who looks at Sims faults but not at any accomplishments, nor talks about Currin's accomplishments, or what she has done for her community.

Sims:

  1. A Commissioner since 1994
  2. Backed by quite a few suburban mayors, churches (including mine) and community leaders.
  3. Changed vote on tax increase
  4. Active in community outreach (current & past)

Below is the blog that sparked my little research adventure, thanks Alan for helping me "Rock my Vote"

PSB: Progressive Illinois Politics:: Deborah Sims threatens Cook County: "We've got to get that penny back"

Bored Now, what has Sheila done? How do I know she is not another as you call it "greedy politician"? Now to my understanding Matteson's tax has also increased, what did Sheila do about that?

I am all for Change and want politician's that are for the people and not themselves. I do know and have seen Deborah Sims in the community and giving to the community. I actually volunteered with a few friends for an event she had for the 5th District community but I have never seen or heard of Sheila Chalmers-Currin and I have been in Matteson for several years.
What experience does she have with county government? I looked at her site and I see she is a member of some non-profits, but what is her County government knowledge??? Why isn't she endorsed by her organizations? Why aren't they vouching for her character?
